Wake Up, Kick Ass, Repeat

The Interweb Is Hard

Blog Category: Blog — Blogged by: Art on January 8, 2008 at 7:55 pm

After talking about it for months, I am in the process of launching 2 new web sites. TheChurchOfTheBigRing.com and VO2Connection.com. They were both up for a brief period yesterday with virtually no content. I spent like 7 hours on the VO2 site only to wake up this morning to find that my hosting company had deleted my database. Still trying to sort that out, early indication is it is probably something that I did. Crap. So I am back to square one. I am trying to do this myself as much as possible and I am on the steep part of the learning curve and making lots of mistakes. The good news is I am actually learning and hopefully I can get the hang of it without having to hire a team of programmers in Sri Lanka.

Hopefully my regular readers have made it over to WallStreetFighter and gotten a taste of Shane’s sense of humor. Well in addition to being responsible for the largest traffic day ever on this site he too has launched another site. Go check out EliteFeet. In a short time he has done a really good job of making an informative and fun site. EliteFeet is what I hope VO2Connection will be like (for cycling, nordic skiing and tri’s) if I can ever figure out Joomla.

Other than a few laps at the final ‘Cross race (who flats in the snow?) I have not ridden since Nationals. What I have been doing is swimming, skate skiing and running on a daily basis. So far it goes like this. In the pool and running Rachel kicks my ass. Yup beat by a girl, a fast super hot one but still. Skating I have the advantage (for now). So basically I get to feel like a man one out of three workouts. I am sooo close to buying a jacked up truck and growing a mullet.

Oh yeah, Michael Ball is a douche.

Now that you have a few days on the skis, it’s time to HTFU and get out to the 10K race at SoHO on Saturday.
If old ladies in blue hair can ski race, so can you!! It’s even an interval start, so no one will know how fast/slow you are.
No excuses. That goes for all your readers as well.

Hopefully the new site is sending you some traffic as well. I hope you’ll come on over to the new site and write a post or two and entertain the folks. Thanks for the kind words.

PS. I learned it’s not always about time. I ran in the muddiest trail race (7.5 miles) I’ve ever run. I usually struggle to keep an overall 7:30 pace because of the hills (there are some that you need ropes and literaly have to climb) It so so deep and muddy that I ran an 8:04 pace. Sounds terrible but I ran 30 seconds slower per mile than last year and moved up from 124 to 64 overall out of 500. Just proves sometimes you just have to go out there and kick ass even if on paper it looke like you wiped

See ya

Shane

Joomla? (on vo2connection.com) … gack! I find Joomla to be extremely confusing.

I’ll stick with WP, thank you …

As far as Ball being a douchebag, the sport of cycling probably has more douchebags than most sports, he will fit in nicely.
