Wake Up, Kick Ass, Repeat

Memorial Day in Ut County!

Never let it be said that Jason Preston does not listen to the people. After a lots of crying (mostly by me) from the racing community he has changed the Cat 2 race to a stage race from an omnium. Nice work. What Jason and his crew are trying to do (and have already done) with Thanksgiving Point/Tour of Utah is really incredible. Even though I am probably the worst crit racer ever I am showing my support by racing this weekend. Well really it is because Hageman called me a wimp, the point is I will be there.

You know am not trying to hurt anyones feelings with my ramblings on this site. The fact that anyone reads it amazes me. Since people do read it I guess I should be a little more diplomatic with my critic of my cycling brothers. We really have a strong supportive cycling community here and I don’t want to play any part in dividing it. I take it as well as I can dish it out and as such I really appreciate the (more or less) civil tone of the comments. I hope we can keep it that way. If you agree with me or disagree with me post it in the comments and it will stay there unedited. Just keep it tastefull as my Mom really does read this site. We are all brothers and sisters out there on the road/trails, so to quote the movie Tommy Boy “Brothers don’t shake hands, brothers gotta hug.”

Remember man, I will be your feeder on Sunday. I’ll have the Body Count cooler ready to go and some Ministry cranking in the van. Just give me the word. I wasn’t really calling you a wimp. I just want to see Thanksgiving Point be a great race and have a ton of local support so it continues for years to come. If my calling you a wimp pushed you over the edge to race, than my devious plan worked. Thats all I was trying to do.
And if my psychotic ramblings get teams and riders to race better and make the sport more fun, than again my devious plan is working.

Peace and love and just trying to make Utah cycling better,
Todd

I don’t like most bloggers,Wanna bees tellin me how there felling sic or showing pics of there crack and fails ,But that last post was great,It showed two sides of racing, good or bad right or wrong,The guy leaving his heart on the road and the club with the might to do what it wanted and it’s troops doing it,
both sides are right in their own way.
I of course agree with you ,I don’t mind being beat by the better man ,It’s when the better man does’t do what he should do to beat me.

Art,

I am glad you made it back from Gila with some form. But I must tell you that you are wrong about omniums. Omniums rule. Especially omniums that are made up entirely of crits. Isn’t that essentially what the RMR is? One season-long omnium? They should change Thanksgiving Point to a 5-day all-crit format. I’d consider doing that race.

T$,
You are right if it is an all crit format it does make sense to do an omnium, but I still don’t like them. It does not make sense to have a 114 mile RR and a TT in an omnium. At least in my narrow can’t sprint or ride crits view of the world. Rock On.

Please stop apologizing… just continue the smack talk. That is what blogging is all about.

I will be taking my lack of pride and honor sitting on the back and sprinting ass on the road this weekend, but have fun guys, and see ya next time.

I say: why have a stage race at all then when it ends with a 5.5 mile 10% uphill TT? Jason could save a lot of time and money just doing that stage and giving all the money to the winner. With 2 crits, a flat circuit race and a flat road race, and where will the winner will come from? The uphill TT. And I think that sucks. Art you are tough enough to score points in all those stages and be rewarded for consistency. And that is my narrow view of stage races.

What the hell is wrong with you people? All you can do is squabble while John Sinclair rots in prison.

Wait a gosh damn minute. So are Omniums cool now because the stage race would only come down to who wins the TT?
I can’t think for myself, never could. Would someone please clarify my position on this. Omniums good or omniums baaadddddddd??

No omniums are never cool which is why I was not going to do Thanksgiving Point. Now that it’s not am I opened my big mouth I am doing the race. My ego is not so big to think Jason changed the format for me but since I did criticise his race publically and he has made the change I am happy to support the event. Personally I think 114 miles on the West Mt course will have a bigger impact on the GC than the TT. If you want to know your position an anything else let me know.

What the hell is an Omnium? Is that some sort of Six-day Kerberos race?

I am not opposed to the stage race format per se, as long as all the stages are criteriums. That would rule.
