Wake Up, Kick Ass, Repeat

Chicken Power

All the favorites continued their rolling slumber party. I guess they are saving their energy for a rest day tickle fight or something? Rasmussen was the only one who knew there was a bike race today I guess. You know it is bad when a Frenchman (Moreau) is the only one doing any work in the chase. I think the entire T-Mobile team and all the Aussies except Evans have crashed out of the race now. In another victory for the barnyard animals a cow whooped up on The Devil.

That One Race in France

I admit I have not watched a single second of “The” tour coverage on TV. Mostly because I don’t have cable. About the only thing dumber than paying for TV is paying for radio, but I digress. OK so no TV but I have been following it online (I can’t help myself). Yesterday was the first mountain stage so I thought there might finally be some racing, a chance for the real contenders to show themselves. Well I was wrong. With a Cat 1 climb at the end there should have been some fireworks, but no all the “favorites” rode like it was an AIDS Ride or something. Pussies. So far the best thing about this tour is the Zabriskie Diaries on Velonews. That is some great stuff there. BTW if you want to hear some bad Euro techno (is there any other kind?) here is the Tom Boonen song Dave was talking about the other day. Tommeke Tommeke Tommeke! I think Cheryl Crow wrote a song about Lance before he dumped her for Matthew Mcconaughey.

You’re Welcome

If you are not familiar with Tom Waits your life is not as good as it could be. Believe it.

Why?

Blog Category: Blog — Blogged by: Art on July 11, 2007 at 10:29 am

Why get an iPod Nano if you are going to rock the biggest headphones known to man?

-Magnum PI shorts?

- I talked myself into doing the Xterra on Aug 18, knowing I can’t swim, hate running, and my recently broken arm is barely funtional. Why?
-I have not finished all the projects on the house I live in and have now bought another one. Why?
- Why isn’t Slayer coming to Utah this summer?
–It does not matter what I go into my bank for, the teller never knows how to do it and has to enlist the help of at least 2 others. Why?
-Are coffee shop girl so appealing?
-Does anyone take Michael Moore seriously?
-Would a guy who is a waiter tell a woman with a PhD in genetics from Harvard to rearrange her schedule because her job is easier?

Listen To That Ya Ya Music

One great thing about the internet is you can find all tons of great music that you would never find if you relied on your local crap radio or worse MTV. If not for the internet I would have never heard The Bastard Sons Johnny Cash, Scott H. Biram, Electric Wizard, etc. Check out eMusic
they have mostly independent bands and some early stuff from the “stars”. They even have a bunch of that Euro techno stuff that people seem to like. I started with the 25 free song offer expecting to cancel as soon as I got my free stuff, that was over a year ago. Rock On.

I thought Tommy Boy was the highest roller I knew, then I saw this guy.

Music Music Music

Lots of free live music in SLC. Thursday Robert Earl Keen at the Gallivan Center and the SLC Jazz Festival all weekend. Galactic this Thursday, Yo La Tengo the next. Damn, who says Utah has no culture? At the Jazz Fest they had a few vendors selling the usual cheap jewelry and wind chimes. One of my friends did score some sweet bling and we picked up a kick ass house warming gift for another friend. 777 was yesterday and it looks like The Illuminati missed their chance for a massive human sacrifice. Does this mean Numerolgy is BS? I guess I will have to rely on Astrology.

Hopefully this guy will tour soon.

I like the way DZ gives the bird on the downlow when he gets a dumb question.
Sorry, I had to take the video down because I can’t find a way to stop it from auto playing. If you want to be forced to hear crappy techno you can go to Tommy Boy’s page or if you want to see the DZ videos and Trek ads you can go here. It’s all about freedom here at artoconnor.com.

Go Ask Alice

Blog Category: Blog — Blogged by: Art on July 6, 2007 at 9:00 am

And if you go chasing rabbits
And you know you’re going to fall
Tell them a hookah smoking caterpillar has given you the call
Call Alice
When she was just small
- Jefferson Airplane

Ever wonder what happened to that pudgy kid with asthma who had a note from his Mom to get out of playing dodgeball in gym? Based on the number of inhalers in the Euro peleton I would say there is a pretty good chance he grew up to be a pro cyclist. Right Alice? Either that or is he is now playing Edna in a local production of “Hairspray”. The horror.

Oh yeah, the Poetry contest. Only 2 people (besides my Mom) entered though my site so I have decided to give both of them shirts. No worries for me though I got 82 people (and counting) to enter through Google ads, at $2.20 for each entry I have made my beer money for the month. Anyway, Flahute and Newbie, thanks for playing and let me know what shirt you want.

777

I hope everyone had a good 4th. I am finally riding outside again. The wrist hurts like hell but I have the green light from the Doc. For now I am riding my TT bike, 3 rides in 3 days, that might be the most I have ridden that bike in a single season. Who knows I may turn into a chrono gun like Gardie or Dr. Sandros. Hopefully I can get some road races in this year. If nothing else it would be fun to go out and do some work for the team. I am hoping to at least line up for the Masters RR and not get dropped to early.

I like to read a bit about numerology and anyone who knows me knows I am a total conspiracy nut. The thing about numerology is you can look at any event and apply virtually any sequence of numbers to it and make whatever claim you want, still a fun distraction for me though. I do think most conspiract theories have at least some truth to them, with a little research it is easy to sort it out. That is why I found this clip so amusing. This guy has all his bases covered. It will be intersting to see what he comes up with on Saturday. I also read somewhere that there are a lot of weddings planned on this Saturday 7/7/07. I wonder how many of these people really know the significance of 777. Probably not.
