Giro update

Alice sat in all day, got a perfect lead out and got 3rd. Putz. Simoni is trying to figure out which of his team mates are out to screw him this year. Basso’s sister is no where to be seen (bummer). OJ is helping Tyler look for his chimera. Bettini is wondering where that crazy girl with the whip is. Floyd can’t implicate Lance but he does know where Jimmy Hofa is buried.

Mr. Hand still thinks everyone is on dope.

For real

Staying in the 801

Blog Category: Blog — Blogged by: Art on May 12, 2007 at 10:04 pm

Passed on the Lava Rama today. The drive to ride ratio was not good so I stayed here and did some solo dirt riding. Mueller Grueller on a 90 degree day, ya. Actually I like the heat, got a good start on the farmer tan. Not many people on the trail so that was good. I did run over an unleashed dog, that was not so good. Oh well it seemed like it was ok. It’s owners were a little bent though.

Soldier Hollow next weekend will rock. I raced it a few years ago and it was fun and a good course for me. Maybe Slohran will show up and show some of that fitness he claims to have found. I would like to do Bear Lake but Slohran says I gotta race in the dirt if I want to keep the bike. No matter, a race is a race.

I deleted a bunch of comments by mistake again. Sorry.

Rip the DH

Had a great session on the longboard last night. Gen and I played around up by the VA for a while then met up with Norm and Spencer down at the stadium. We took Trax up to Ft Douglas, hid from the Five-0 then ripped down through campus. Tommy Boy was watching cable on the couch.

I have not decided on Lava-Rama yet. It would be fun to go race and soak in the springs after but it is 4 hours of solo driving roundtrip. I think I would rather ride solo for 4 hours. Al Gore says I gotta reduce my carbon footprint.

I hear our local hoop the ball franchise has another match this evening. The last one was a tie at the end and was decided in sudden death. Hopefully they will record more goals than their opponents and stimulate some t-shirt sales.

Danger is my middle name

In my attempt to find new ways to injur myself this is my latest toy.

Hopefully that will quench my appetite for destruction or I may have to get one of these.

Everyone is afraid to die, they should be afraid of not really living. The Summer of Art has begun!

Taking it up a notch

I get the feeling it is going to be a hot summer. I am declaring this the summer of Art. I have a lot on my plate for the next few months. Riding, racing, home projects, long boards, concerts, Peppermint Patties, single track, fly fishing, road trips, bbq’s, alley cats, fish taco’s. Yaaa, Train’s gonna roll! Try and keep up.

FAQ

Blog Category: Blog — Blogged by: Art on May 6, 2007 at 6:27 pm

Where do you live? In my house

What do you do? Eat Peppermint Patties and ride pedal bikes

Relationship Status? Single, no one can/wants to roll with The Train

Favorite slang for gun? Heat

How many bikes do you have? 5 complete, 1 partial

What is ‘cross? blank “are you serious/get far away from me” stare

Ever smoked Pot? No, I am afraid it will make me like the Gratefull Dead and move to Alta to be a liftie.

How tall are you? taller than you

Why do you write your blog? why do you read it?

Favorite Race? Hard to pick one, the old Big Bear MTB course was fun and I always seemed to race well there. Every Tom Stevens course I have ever raced has brought the rock.

Got a hot stock tip? no

How did you get the name A-Train? I had a custom frame made a long time ago and part of the deal was you could put whatever name you wanted on the top tube. I always name my bikes (ex; Hulking War Machine is the name of my fixie) and I named that one A-Train. After that people started calling me that. I guess it fits since I can’t sprint or climb, I just kind of chug along.

Favorite racer? I have always had a lot of respect for DrX, Dirk, and T-Mac. They have been throwing down for a long time and when they talk I listen.

Who has the best fish taco in SLC? Beto’s

Wanna know anything else just ask.

Flatting out of the race was kind of a bummer, but the form seems to be good and it was fun ripping it with Team Rico. The worst part of the day is the insomnia is back with a vengence. I left a BBQ early feeling pretty tired, as soon as I lie down I am totally wired and my brain won’t turn off. At 3am I had enough and got on my bike and cruised around downtown for an hour or so (oddly enough this usually works) then head home to try again. Nope, this is getting old. Maybe tonight.

May is looking pretty good on the music scene. Tomorrow (since it is my Friday) I will probably go see Mastodon In the Venue. I have seen them twice in the last year and they seem to get better every time. On the 21st I have a real dilema. Clutch and The Meat Puppets are both in town at different clubs. Probably end up seeing Meat Puppets as I still rank the show I saw in ‘93 as one of my Top 3 shows of all time.

I got a flat and left my pump and tube in the car. I am dumb.
